During the first half of 2018, we wrote a series of blog posts that covered questions about bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, and outdoor lighting. We hope that if you read some or all of those blogs, that you found some tips that helped you improve your lighting. We also hope that it brought you to our lighting store in Grapevine, and that you received exceptional service from our staff. At Passion, we’re always here to help every customer find the best lighting options, and we want to know what questions you have about your home or business.
However, before you can ask the right lighting questions, you need to know what your design priorities are. In this post, we’ll look at some ways that you can determine those priorities, and therefore, form the proper questions in your mind.
Pick One or Two Rooms to Start
Updating the lighting in your entire house can be overwhelming, and that’s why we recommend starting with just one or two rooms. Instead of thinking about the house as a whole, think about each room as a component that makes up the whole of your home. Looking at your bathroom or bedroom and upgrading the lights there can inform what you do with the rest of the house. Once you’ve done this, you can ask a question such as, “How can this bedroom lamp influence the lighting I choose for the hallway outside the bedroom?”
Understanding Your Budget
Budget always plays an integral role in finding new lighting, and many homeowners get stuck on this piece. They may only be focusing on one or two rooms, but they want the grandest and most elaborate fixtures for those rooms. While this is perfectly fine, it’s good to be reasonable when it comes to choosing fixtures. Being able to compromise a bit will let you ask the question, “How can I get a fixture that I really love without breaking the bank?” or, “How can I get this overhead fixture and this floor lamp at a price that works with my budget?”
Before you begin fretting about whether or not you’re asking the right lighting questions, take the time to determine your priorities by focusing on one or two room, and by setting a budget with which you’re comfortable. Both of these parameters can fluctuate, but you’ll likely feel more at ease and more prepared when you come to our lighting store.
Our staff will gladly answer any questions you have, and if you’re unsure of how or what you’re asking, we’ll inquire of you until we arrive at a solution. Above all, we want you to feel confident that you made the right choice in trusting the Passion Lighting team.
We look forward to helping you find new lighting for your home!
